WELCOME TO TEAM LILLYBUG!!!

Where do we begin? Lilly is now 9 years old. Finishing up second grade and will be in third grade! She recently went through another surgery back in March. She had an Alveolar Bone Graft done by the amazing Dr. Brian Pan of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He took bone from her left hip and put in her gum line where she had her cleft lip. She is still in recovery mode for her hip. We have to be careful right now. She has 2 weeks left. She is counting down the days until May 4th. She is a bright, sassy, extremely smart girl. She loves Stitch and Angel from the movie Lilo and Stich. She loves unicorns.

We have been with Building Blocks 4 Kids since 2018/2019 since Lillian's diagnosis with Apraxia. They helped provide Lilly with a "talker" an ACC device to help her communicate with friends and family or just about anyone. Around 5/6 years old she started to push the "talker" away. Her speech therapist at the time at Cincinnati Children's mentioned to us that this is common. They are becoming familiar with their voice and they think they don't need it anymore. Since then she has not used it. She has come a long way in speech. She graduated from Cincinnati Children's Speech Therapy last year and is receiving it from school. Her therapist at Children's told us that she thinks that at the point where Lilly was, the school can take it from there. She still struggles with speech but every day we make progress and make bigger goals for her to achieve.

She attends Putman Elementary School in Blanchester, Ohio. I could not ask for a better school district than Blanchester. The teachers and staff there are all so amazing, especially with Lilly. I could not thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication they put towards Lilly. From her IEP goals, all the prayers for her during her surgery, accommodations for her coming back to school, just everything. But let's not forget the most important person to me and Lilly is Mrs. Donna. Lilly's School Bus driver. She has been with Lilly since the very first day of Lilly going to preschool. She has seen Lilly grow up, seen her go through many different stages as she grows, and always has treats for all her kids getting off the bus. Mrs. Donna holds a very special place in our hearts along with the bus-aids that Mrs. Donna has had. Mrs. Donna takes the kids in like they're her own. There are not enough words to explain how great she is.

Please consider joining Team Lillybug as we need 15 or more members to get Lilly's Purple Shirts this year. We have been doing Bubbleblast for 6 years. Let's make this our goal and get Lilly her PURPLE shirts!!! This event is so much fun. If you have kids bring extra clothes! Hope to see you there. If you can't make it please make sure you donate anything that will help. This will help any current children needing equipment and or services to function in life. Building Blocks helped us!
